On the first day of Chris and Anne's visit, we did a quick buzz up Marys Peak. The view to the east and over the Cascades was not as clear as it had been a week earlier with the OMN workshop, but with the sunglint off the ocean, shortly before sunset, the view to the west was glorious. The bright strip of the Pacific Ocean hits the horizon at a distance of about 75 miles, or right about where the Juan de Fuca Plate begins its slide under the edge of North America. It's about 25 or 30 miles under our feet here.
