There is an awful lot of military from Ohio as well, including the old man. Maybe because all of the major cities with any personality are on the borders. Columbus is all by itself, but really. Columbus? No thanks.

I was born in Columbus, but we moved before I was 2, and I have no memories of it. Spent pre-school years in Gallipolis, on the river in SE Ohio, then most of my school years in Athens (Now THERE's a town with personality!), with the exception of a year and a half near Cleveland while my father got his Master's degree. There are things I miss (a little) about the state, but for the most part, it's a nice place to be from.
