As you may have heard, about 600 people shelled out about $550 dollars to spend the weekend spewing diarrhea from their mouths, and for the pleasure of witnessing others do so as well. Also too, an additional 300 people shelled out about $350 for the main event, Sarah Palin, who even as she lambasted Obama for relying on a teleprompter, fell back on the middle school tactic of sneaking crib notes written on the palm of her hand, apparently to get her through the softball Q & A that followed.
Meanwhile, a real grassroots effort turned out 2000 people to throw snow at each other...
Now there wasn't an entry fee of hundreds of dollars, and there wasn't any canned speech. And at neither event was there any plan to change the governance of the nation. But one was organized for fun, fondness and frolicking, and the other in the name of fury, rage and hatred.
I wonder which participants had more fun? I wonder which will be remembered positively in a generation?
