Problems

I'm having some computer problems- maybe malware, spybots, viruses, whatever goodies modern vandals have created. Lots of people around that can give me advice, but I get online and my computer slowly freezes up. Light to no posting until I figure out what's going on... later, folks.

I had the same problem-I ended up reformatting and reinstalling XP-probably overreacted. I had thought maybe we had a rootkit. I had done a couple of rootkit checks and came up empty, and Malwarebytes AM/Windows Def. came up empty, but AVG kept catching all sorts of weird stuff. Common/program files were getting infected with this weird trojan. (forgot name, but it began with a Firefox exploit.)
Malwarebytes Antimalware, if you don't already have it, is essential-it has saved my butt more than a few times.

My daughter's computer got the nastiest virus that kept bringing up pop ups that were almost identical to windows security warnings.

I hate those people that write that crap. What a waste of time.
